In addition to this main growing area, we also have a small POLYTUNNEL 15' X 12' & GREENHOUSE 8' X 6' in which to grow many herbs, glass house crops and fruits such as Grape and Nectarine. We also make use of the areas around/behind the tunnel and greenhouse as nursery beds and for salads and other small crops.
Blight is a problem in the area due to high levels of rainfall and moisture in the air, so main crop potatoes are often affected, so we tend to only grow first earlies in containers.
Unfortunately, our plot is far too windy to successfully grow sweetcorn as the growing plants often collapse under the pressure.
Addititonally, we have expereinced frosts as late as mid-June and as early as late-August, bith contriving to reduce the full growing and cropping pitential of many types of crops.
